And speaking of finish, there are two types:

1. one glued to the tape
2. the other fused.

What is the difference between the two finishes for your hair extensions?

The difference lies essentially in the durability of the extensions. Although the finish with glued strands is easier to come loose, the fused finish is done with a special device that ensures a secure hold of the strands.

How is the process of applying tape-in extensions done?

Basically, hair strands are attached to a silicone tape with a special adhesive before being applied to the natural hairline.

The application process is very quick and, depending on the number of tapes to be applied, it takes 20 to 60 minutes.

Caution: Wider tapes are not flexible and reduce the duration of wear. For this reason, wide tapes are not suitable for people who like to frequently tie their hair in ponytails, buns, or other styles.

To determine the quantity of hair tapes for application, it is first necessary to understand your goal and what your own hair is like.

It should be remembered that tape-in extensions can add volume to the hair and lengthen it at the same time.

Follow the next step to apply tape-in extensions:

1) The hair is thoroughly washed with an anti-residue shampoo, then dried and combed without any type of conditioner or cream near the root;
2) The hair is divided for the placement of the tapes, according to what is desired;
3) The paper covering the adhesive part of the tape is removed, avoiding finger contact with the adhesive;
4) The hair is separated into small sections, using a fine-toothed comb with a rod, placing the first tape under the section of hair;
5) The hair strands that have not been glued to the adhesive are removed with the rod of the fine comb and secured with a clip. Then, the rod of the fine comb is slid over the hair strands attached to the adhesive to ensure good adhesion - always use the rod of the comb. Fingers can damage the adhesive;
The paper from the second adhesive piece is removed and placed exactly on top of the first tape;

The hair is distributed as if it were sandwiches, forming layers in a brick pattern, thus avoiding any visible defects.
Caution: after applying tape-in hair extensions, it is recommended to wait at least 2 days before the first hair wash.

What about daily maintenance, what are the special cares for tape-in extensions?

This type of hair extension is one of the easiest to maintain. Mainly because it facilitates washing and drying of the hair strands, inhibiting the likelihood of fungal growth and the resulting hair problems.

However, like natural hair, hair extensions will require care to remain healthy, hydrated, and beautiful.

Nevertheless, we have listed some tips that will help you with the daily care of your tape-in hair extensions.

Be patient - every day, take the time to care for the strands;
Try to use specific cosmetic products for extensions - they contain concentrated active ingredients that are suitable for hair strands that do not receive nutrients from the root, unlike natural hair;
Comb your hair with only the brush indicated for hair extensions - this is the one with flexible bristles and no balls at the ends. Remember that brushes with stiff bristles damage and break the strands, and balls can even pull out the strands directly from the root;
You should pay particular attention when combing wet extensions, as they become more elastic and more prone to breakage.

And how is the maintenance of tape-in extensions done?

If you follow all the instructions regarding daily special care, the maximum lifespan of tape-in extensions is 3 months. However, maintenance should be done earlier (between the 2nd and 3rd month), as the client's natural hair will grow and the tape may start to show. Therefore, we advise that maintenance (touch-up) be performed between 40 and 60 days after application.

Here's how salon maintenance is done step-by-step:

1) The tapes are removed with the specific remover;
2) The old adhesive is removed from the tape;
3) The hair strands are washed with an anti-residue shampoo and then dried;
4) New adhesive is placed on the tape;
5) During this time in the salon, you will enjoy taking care of your own natural hair, touching up the color or highlights, and treating yourself to a super hydration.
6) Be careful when removing the tapes. They should be separated according to where they were attached based on their size. They will then be put back at the same height as before. Avoid cutting the ends of the hair and adjusting their length.

Knowing a little more about adhesives for tape-in extensions:

There are many options, with different sizes, compositions, organized in rolls or on cards, which can affect the durability of the application. There is also an adhesive option for sensitive skin.

Client adaptation to tape-in extensions is very fast and user acceptance is high. After trying them, they no longer want to use another hair extension method.
