The keratin technique is a very old technique; it was one of the first to appear on the market, so many people know about keratin and for this reason, many people still use it. However, there are some points that are not as beneficial for the professional or for the client.

Advantages of the keratin technique

Firstly, it's a good technique because it suits all hair types, which is fundamental. The method is very secure, so there's no chance of it coming off where it was placed. Another point that makes it an advantage for clients is the cost-benefit ratio, as it's woven only once, without needing to be redone for maintenance and without losing strands.

Disadvantages of the keratin technique

The keratin technique takes a long time to perform the procedure, so as a client, you have to invest the whole day in the salon, as does the professional. Another point is that the keratin technique is not comfortable, as you can feel the bonds on your head, so it's not as comfortable as a tape-in technique, for example. For the keratin technique to be done, the bonds are attached using keratin glue. During maintenance, it's necessary to remove this keratin polymer from the client's head. So, it needs to be disassembled and rebuilt. For the client, this isn't good because they end up losing hair, which is a poor value for money. Because it's an old technique, the manufacturing isn't as valued as adhesive techniques. "Well, there can't be a perfect technique for both a client and a professional, right?"

What precautions should be taken to avoid damaging the hair?

Once installed, keratin hair extensions also require some care to preserve the health of the strands as much as possible, you see?

It is important to remember:

- do not skip maintenance every 3 months, otherwise the natural hair could start to dry out and become brittle;

- do not wash or dry hair upside down to prevent tangling;

- comb hair with wide-tooth combs, always keeping a distance from where the glue is to avoid damaging the extension;

- moisturize hair about 2 times a week to prevent natural and artificial strands from drying out;

- use a hairdryer and flat iron carefully so as not to melt the glue on the strands. Use heat protectant on the strands and, during the process, keep a three-finger distance between the joining point, the natural hair, and the fake hair for those using a flat iron. As for the hairdryer or diffuser, the rule is to keep a distance of 10 to 15 centimeters between the tool and the hair.
